Two dignitaries from Ukraine visit the UK to learn about the latest technology being used by the emergency services.
On day one, the dignitaries had the opportunity to meet teams from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, tour the command development centre/fire control, and observe firefighter training. They also got to look around the joint command unit and new connected fire appliances whilst learning about modern techniques and approaches used in the UK.
Connectivity played a crucial role in day one’s activities, with the dignitaries getting a first-hand look at how technology can enhance communication and coordination during pre-planned events and emergency situations. Northamptonshire’s connected fleet showcased the benefits of real-time data sharing between emergency services, enabling them to work more efficiently and effectively.
Day two was a technology experience with a difference, with demonstrations from Unblur, Equivital, Satellite Applications Catapult, and Arwain. The Ukrainian dignitaries were able to see the latest solutions being used in the UK to improve situational awareness and connectivity during emergencies. They learned about the use of wearables and sensors to monitor the vital signs of emergency responders in real-time and how specialist command software improves outcomes by enabling the correct information to be shared with the right people at the right time.
London Fire Brigade’s drone team also supported with live demonstrations and shared advanced techniques on the use of UAV’s in search and rescue. The dignitaries saw how drones can be used to gather data in hard-to-reach areas and transmit information back to command centres in real-time.
